7 new restaurants in Mumbai with chic interiors

Amongst the new restaurants in Mumbai, Malad gets a new place to dine, drink and dance, all under one roof at Novaara. Pegged as an all day dining, lounge and club, the expansive space is spread across 11,000 square feet, and is divided into three distinct sections. From alfresco seating to a high energy bar area and a lounge section, Novaara is conceptualised by Tao and executed by architect Ashish Kambli. The multi-cuisine restaurant is designed using the analogy of ‘The tree of Life’ with a disjointed serpentine and linear layout. The spring zone features the use of vibrant hues apt for coffee and working lunches. A subdued autumn zone lies in the centre that is suited for a lounge-like vibe, and a club vibe with metallic tones depicts the coolness of winter. Fabric trees line the interiors prominently and tie the whole space together.

VietNom

With the aim of introducing authentic Vietnamese flavours to the city, VietNom, which is helmed by Sahil Sambhi, gets a new outpost in Bandra. Designed by Vivek Guha of Orphic Design Studio, the interiors create an inviting atmosphere that captures Vietnam’s timeless charm. The 1,464-square-foot space is divided into two levels with a stairway finished with wall art connecting the two floors. The colour scheme at VietNom features shades of beige, ivory, and light grey, with indoor planters bringing in the greens. Understated furniture with clean lines and natural materials like cane, jute and rope lend a rustic elegance to the space. Wooden ceiling rafters, soft lighting and a central community table that fosters a sense of togetherness complete the look.

Carnival by Tresind

An award-winning restaurant from Dubai, Carnival By Tresind opens in Juhu and keeps its tradition of being a fun dining place serving contemporary Indian cuisine alive. Its innovative take features dishes made using seasonal ingredients that are presented with a touch of theatrics. Masked bartenders, live music and dance performances, cool tricks by mentalists and DIY drinks are what you can look forward to here. Vinay Mathias of hCube has designed the space keeping its Dubai counterpart in mind yet making it apt for Mumbai. Chevron-patterned flooring, dark walls adorned with carnival masks and back-painted artwork on glass table tops are just some of the highlights here. The bar and dining area are creatively partitioned using arched metal frames with copper trees. Overall, Carnival By Tresind creates a lively ambience despite its dark-hued interiors.
