Interior Design Report 2025 – by Lauren Li

Another year over and that can only mean one thing – new interior design predictions!
Look, to be honest, I can not ‘minimal’. I love the idea of living minimally but I am sentimental. I have a family. And well, there’s life.
By now it’s safe to say that minimalism is out and ‘lived-in’ spaces are in. Thank God for that! I feel so much more relaxed just knowing that everything doesn’t need to be immediately ‘put away’ and be hidden. We can just LIVE in our homes again. *breathe out*
We said SEE YA to cool greys a while ago and as 2025 ticks over we say a big HELLO (and I’ve missed you) to richness in spaces drenched in colour like burgundy and chocolate mixed with warm wood tones. Much more my vibe.
Dare I say a fond farewell to Mid-Century Modern and welcome to ‘individualism’, which sees a mix of vintage and antiques dripping in book wealth.

How was your 2024? Were you happy with how your home looked and functioned? Did your space feel how you wanted it to feel, did it provide somewhere that you can express yourself and just ‘be’? Maybe 2025 is the year you truly create a home that is fulfilling.
What is a TREND?

Formal Living Room
I find it fascinating to learn about how interior design trends reflect the time we are living in. Of course, observing trends -and following a few of them – doesn’t automatically mean that it’s time to refresh your entire home. I believe that you should create a space that reflects how you want to feel. In fact, creating your own individual spaces is a trend too!
It is worthwhile learning about how these waves of change affect us across the world and seeing how to create a space to respond. After all that is what a trend is; a wave of change. According to the Oxford dictionary a trend is:
We live in a society and observe the culture and trends are simply a part of our everyday life. You could say that there’s been a trend towards sitting on the sofa and scroll on your phone, rather than sit down at 7pm and watch the news on the tv. Surely it’s not just me?
I see interior design trends in the same way. In fact this trend away from tuning into the news on a tv affects how we use our living rooms doesn’t it? (More on that below) How we live in our homes changes and trends go beyond aesthetics alone. But I will talk about some new styles here too.

If you’re thinking of adding a few updates to refresh your space you can add these 2025 trend ideas in small ways such as cushions, dive into Marketplace for antiques, try the paint colours below or simply feel inspired to move around the things you already have.
If you are about to embark on a renovation you don’t want to start making your selections with information that is already dated. You want to design your space looking forward, so that in a year or two when your project is complete, you’ll have a fresh space that is perfectly ‘you.’ But not ‘you’ from 10 years ago!
These are some interior design trends that I have observed and predicted. These are the ones that I love the most.
