Should You Be Decorating Your Home for Your Moon Sign?

Before you think we’re absolutely bananas for recommending that you decorate your home according to your astrology chart, hear us out: There are actually specific colors associated with each zodiac sign, and astrologers believe that certain planets in your birth chart can affect your aesthetic preferences. Not to mention, decorating for your moon sign is currently trending on TikTok with millions of video views talking about why you should be doing it.
Lauren Ash, resident astrologer for Astrology.com and Horoscope.com, says, “Your personality style shines through your stars, and astrology is a perfect way to design a home that’s comfortable and aesthetically pleasing to you!”
Ash says there are two key things to look at from an astrological perspective when determining your home’s style: your moon sign and your Venus sign (you can determine where planets fall in your birth chart if you know your birthplace, date, and time by plugging in your info here).
Ash says, “To create a space that can help you relax, decorate for your moon sign, which rules safety and comfort. Then, add the flair from your Venus sign for design inspiration.”
Where your Venus sign falls in your chart represents how you view beauty, love, and pleasure, so decorating with this in mind can help your home look and feel good. “That’s the magic of your moon and Venus signs working together in sync!,” according to Ash.
She adds, “Finding your home style is about embracing the freedom to mix and match until it feels uniquely yours. These power colors and home decor trends, aligned with your moon and Venus signs, offer a fun way to create a space that’s all your own.”
Here’s how you should decorate your home, based on your moon and Venus signs (make sure to check both!).
Aries Moon or Venus
Ash says that those with an Aries moon or Venus should lean into “bold, daring, vibrant, and warm” designs. Using zesty colors like red or maroon, as well as opting for bold trends like color drenching, are all on brand for the leader of the zodiac.
Taurus Moon or Venus
Earth signs need soothing, grounding, and calm spaces that aren’t overly trendy (classic furniture and timeless fabrics are perfect for Taurus). Ash says those with a Taurus moon or Venus should also opt for dark greens and textural touches for a biophilic-inspired design.
Gemini Moon or Venus
Ready to get a little crazy? If you have a Gemini moon or Venus placement, Ash says your home should be “bright, loud, fun, and experimental.” You’ll thrive in an environment filled with bold design choices like bright yellow paint or lots of pattern mixing.
Cancer Moon or Venus
Those with a Cancer moon or Venus in their chart need their home to feel “soothing and spa-like,” according to Ash. To create your own personal oasis, she says to choose “ethereal, relaxing, and refined” colors like pearly white and silver. Cancer is ruled by the moon, so opting for these lunar-inspired shades will help maximize your cozy vibes.
Leo Moon or Venus
Ash says that those with a Leo moon or Venus need their home to feel “regal, luxurious, and one-of-a-kind.” Is this any surprise for the sign represented by the dramatic king of the jungle? Ash notes that colors associated with royalty—such as purple—as well as curated interiors (perfect for that Instagram-worthy picture!) are ideal for those with Leo placements.
Virgo Moon or Venus
If you have a Virgo moon or Venus placement in your chart, Ash says your home should reflect the “refined, elegant, and sleek” aesthetic associated with this Earth sign. Opting for neutrals, earth tones, or even limewash paint on the walls can make your space sing without switching things up too much.
Libra Moon or Venus
Ash says that those with Libra moon or Venus placements need their space to feel “romantic, charming, and elevated.” After all, Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet associated with romance, so Ash recommends leaning into blushing pink hues and charming ceiling details (perfect for laying in bed and daydreaming).
Scorpio Moon or Venus
Scorpio moon and Venus placements are full of mystery and intrigue. Ash says to opt for “dark, moody, and modern” decor by using plenty of black with artful lighting to set the scene (read: your home should feel like a sexy cocktail bar).
Sagittarius Moon or Venus
Ash says those with Sagittarius moon or Venus placements thrive in “playful, whimsical, and worldly” environments. Your home is the perfect place to show off global souvenirs from your travels. Ash also notes that you should opt for orange accents or paint, and use furniture as art (think: a curvy couch or sculptural canopy bed) to show off your fun, fiery side.
Capricorn Moon or Venus
Lean into your Capricorn placement’s hardworking side with a home design that’s “classic, timeless, or industrial,” according to Ash. She recommends colors like steel or gray, as well as furniture or decor from the Art Deco period.
Aquarius Moon or Venus
If you have an Aquarius moon or Venus placement, you likely don’t want your home to look like anyone else and you’ll want to stay away from any flash-in-the-pan design trends. Ash says you should choose a design that’s “futuristic, risk-taking, and even kitschy.” Aquarius is associated with the color blue, technology, and thinking ahead towards the future, so why not opt for some fun voice-activated technology or smart home devices?
Pisces Moon or Venus
Ash says that those with a Pisces moon or Venus placement should lean into “ethereal, romantic, and bohemian” designs. Pisces is ruled by Neptune (also the god of the sea), and represented by two fish, so consider using soft pastels (think: ocean colors and sunset shades) as well as natural accents.
